Typically made from from a variety of materials including silk, polyester, or rayon, it is characterized by its lustrous sheen and soft, silky texture. Satin is often used in clothing, such as dresses, blouses, and lingerie, as well as for event decoration and home décor items like bed sheets and pillowcases. Satin can be made with silk, but the more popular polyester version is also silky smooth but at a more affordable price. You can use it to make everything from gowns to table cloths to throw pillows look ready for a fancy occasion. Matte satin (also known as peau de soie satin) has a matte finish with a very soft sheen. It's lightweight, drapes beautifully, and can create lovely volume. Crepe back satin is smooth and opaque, and really shiny. This satin is lightweight and drapes wonderfully with the added benefit of being reversible. Stretch satin is perfect for apparel that needs to form well to the body. It's lightweight, drapes well, and it's smooth and shiny surface almost feels like silk. Jacquard satin is unique because of it's floral print and varied textures. The background has a smooth sheen while the floral print is slightly rougher. Rosette satin is unique because it has a 3-D look with swirls that resemble roses. Standard formal wear satin can be used for any type of gown. It's a lightweight satin with a sleek sheen and has a lovely drape fit for a bride. You can choose from many colors and textures, shiny or matte, but no matter what satin you select it's always associated with lavish softness with that signature satin sheen.
